Mother

This particular drawing, mixed media on paper, was done in 1991 when Tony learned in Antwerp that his mother had passed away in Nevada. She was had been a very pretty woman en had been a dancer till her early fifties in the old Thunderbird Casino in Las Vegas. He thought the world of her and cared about the painting, so it happened he gave it to his friend the veterinarian for safe keeping. Do you see the stained glass windows of the cathedral? The right one is a crucifixion. The text reads: A lady of deepest love has passed I cry...

I have inherited 4 etchings of children as the subject matter. They are very much like the etching belonging to Carol Levin in an earlier blog. I have posted two of the four etchings onto Ebay, if anyone is an avid collector. What I love best about these works is the subject matter. He has done pen and ink of children, many with balloons. It reminds me of the art of my childhood (early 70's). I know that Tony spent time in Los Angeles, and my father-in-law was a prominent merchant bank ceo then, and I am sure the works were given or purchased at that time.
